Loyola University Maryland welcomed the members of its class of 2020. As first-year students embark on their college experience, they will all take part in Loyola's living learning program, Messina. The common text for Messina is How to Win an Election, Quintus Tullius Cicero's letter to his brother, Marcus Cicero, a candidate for Consul (the highest office in the Roman church) in 64 B.C.

More than 400 first-year students welcomed to the Baldwin Wallace University campus this fall earned $5.2 million dollars in merit scholarships for their outstanding high school achievements. BW grants a wide range of scholarships to current students each year. Including merit and need-based scholarships, BW students received over $41 million in financial support from the University for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Bates College graduated 462 students from 32 states and 43 countries. Cumulatively, the Class of 2016 performed 17,500 hours of community service, exemplifying Bates' commitment to community learning and civic action.

Coastal Carolina University welcomes 2,306 first-time freshmen to its campus for Fall 2016. Go, Chants!

Miami University awarded 3,889 degrees to students during spring commencement exercises Saturday, May 14, 2016, in Yager Stadium.

Hofstra University congratulates the students named to the Spring 2016 Dean's List for their outstanding academic achievement. Students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 during the semester to make the Dean's List.

Some 2,329 students were awarded a variety of bachelor's degrees during the University of Vermont's 215th commencement ceremonies on May 22. Approximately 502 advanced degrees were awarded by the UVM Graduate College, and 106 took the oath of Hippocrates following the awarding of their M.D. degrees at ceremonies of the UVM College of Medicine.

To achieve either list, students must have full-time status and attain a quality point average of at least 3.8 (Provost's) or 3.5 (Dean's) for the given semester. At 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, graduates in the Class of 2016 took center stage for Elizabethtown College's 113th Commencement. Regina Benjamin, 18th U.S. Surgeon General, was speaker.

The following students achieved the Dean's List at Belmont University for the spring 2016 semester. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

The Dean's Award for academic excellence is awarded to students with a 3.30 or higher term average.

The following local residents have been named to Emerson College's Dean's List for the Fall 2015 semester. The requirement to make the Dean's List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher.

Bucknell University has released the dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2015-16 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean's list recognition.

Miami University awarded 932 degrees to students during fall commencement exercises Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, in Millett Hall. Miami University is a public university located in southwestern Ohio, offering more than 100 degree programs in humanities, science, engineering, business, education and fine arts. Students with more than one listing have earned additional degrees or honors.

To be named to the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

This is a distinction earned by students whose cumulative grade point average is 3.71 or higher.

The Dean's Award for academic excellence is awarded to students with a 3.30 or higher term average.
